LAWRENCEVILLE — Police are looking for a suspected motorcycle thief who’s setting up victims via the popular online marketplace Craigslist, officials said.

Gwinnett police have issued arrest warrants for Gary Bernard Sirmans, 24, of Decatur, who’s suspected of ripping off Gwinnett sellers of two sporty motorcycles in recent weeks.

Sirmans remains at large. He’s also wanted in DeKalb County for stealing a motor vehicle, police said.

The first theft in Gwinnett occurred Nov. 28, when Sirmans allegedly contacted the seller of a 2009 Kawasaki 650 posted on Craigslist, a depot for free classified ads.

Sirmans came to the seller’s residence, driven by someone in a gold Jeep Cherokee, and bolted on the bike without paying for it, said Gwinnett police Cpl. Jake Smith.

On Dec. 12, Sirmans repeated the process with a 2001 Yamaha R6. In both cases, the driver of the gold Jeep Cherokee left before the theft occurred, Smith said.
