Arkansa, Diablo Lobos Members Arrested

OFF THE WIRE
Two member of a reputed outlaw motorcycle gang Diablo Lobos were arrested Tuesday, one on drug complaints.
Ricky Earl Woodruff, 48, of Van Buren and Kevin Wayne Hunter, 40, of Porum, Okla., were arrested after officer Nathan Sosebee of the Fort Smith Police Department pulled them over Tuesday afternoon after he said he observed them driving recklessly on North Sixth Street, according to Sgt. Daniel Grubbs, public information officer for the Police Department.
" Initially, it appeared as though the (bikers) attempted to flee by increasing speeds and passing on the left and right side of a yielding vehicle traveling the same direction," Grubbs stated in a news release. "Hunter was nearly struck by the yielding vehicle."
While attempting to pull over the suspects, Sosebee noticed that both suspects were wearing leather jackets adorned with the patch of Diablo Lobos, "a known outlaw motorcycle gang," according to Grubbs.
Woodruff and Hunter were finally stopped at North Sixth and North L streets. Both suspects were found to be armed with large, fixed-blade knives, police said.
"Knowing that outlaw motorcycle gangs are often armed and involved in illegal drug sales, officers asked for consent to search (the suspects and their motorcycles)," Grubbs stated.
After Hunter refused, a K9 officer was called to the scene and a police dog named Rico alerted officers to a bag attached to Hunter's motorcycle. Officers searched Hunter's bag and found marijuana residue, but not enough to arrest him on. After Woodruff gave consent to search his bag, officers found a pill bottle containing two large white pills determined to be schedule three narcotics, according to the news release.
Hunter was arrested on suspicion of reckless driving, carrying a weapon and obstructing governmental operations. Woodruff was arrested on suspicion of felony possession of a controlled substance, reckless driving and carrying a weapon. Both were released from the Sebastian County Detention Center after posting bond, the news release states.
In a meeting with local business owners hosted by the Fort Smith Police Department in the summer, Sgt. Danny Baker, head of the department's Street Crimes Unit, warned of outlaw bikers attempting to turn Fort Smith into a hub for outlaw biker activity. Baker said bikers see Fort Smith as ideal because interstate systems coming in and out of the city would facilitate illegal trafficking.
Baker advised local business owners to not allow outlaw bikers to use bullying and intimidation to take control of establishments such as bars and clubs.
