TWO Hells Angels who have lost an appeal against their convictions and sentences for their parts in a planned revenge brawl at a Darwin pub will continue to fight their case.

Nicholas Frank "Shonky" Cassidy and James Scott Parnwell Knight were convicted of assaulting two brothers at the Airport Hotel with four other alleged offenders after one of the victims made a fat joke about Cassidy.

The Court of Criminal Appeal yesterday dismissed all grounds of appeal that Cassidy and Knight argued against their convictions and sentences.

Outside court, Cassidy's brother Ray Padden - who was originally charged over the same brawl but not extradited from New Zealand for proceedings, which were later dropped against him - said they would fight the decision to the High Court.

Lawyers for both men argued that trial judge Trevor Riley had erred in his directions to the jury and that he had ordered prison sentences that were manifestly excessive.

Knight was sentenced to 32 months in prison with a non-parole period of 20 months for assaulting two men and carrying a claw hammer during the December, 2007 brawl.

Cassidy was sentenced to 30 months jail with a non-parole period of 15 months.

Three other men who were charged with being involved in the fight were acquitted.
