TUCSON, Ariz. - A Tucson police officer crashed into the back of a semi-truck, and now officers want to know if the motorcycle he was riding had mechanical problems.
Officer Mike Ryan crashed into the back of a semi on Interstate 10 in September.
After the crash, Tucson police ran a check on all of their Harley Davidson motorcycles. They found that there had been reports of bad sensors on eight of the 33 motorcycles in the fleet.
The sensor is supposed to shut off the bike's engine in the event of trouble.
Ryan's crash has not been linked to the sensors, but police replaced the sensors on their entire fleet.
They are also phasing out the Harleys in favor of Hondas, because they said Harleys carry higher repair costs.
