Governor Mitch Daniels has declared May as Motorcycle and Safety Awareness month.
It could get a little loud in Indianapolis Thursday for the first ever motorcycle awareness rally.

Governor Mitch Daniels has declared May as Motorcycle Safety and Awareness month. Officials say 92% of riders involved in accidents are self-taught with no formal safety training. Meantime half of the cyclists killed in Indiana did not have the proper license to operate the bike.

To learn more about motorcycle rider education courses or other safety information, you can call ABATE of Indiana at 1-800-23ABATE or click on the Big Red Bar.

There is good news, though. In 2009, motorcycle fatalities saw a big decline nationwide.

Just remember, it's not just about the rider; drivers should always be aware, because as they say, motorcycles are everywhere.
