NC in May !

FYI, for anyone wanting to know if Paul Cote is up to fighting helmet tickets, check out what he wrote a few minutes ago about Myrtle Beach and his trip south.

Excellent! We'll look forward to it !

It's gone all the way to South Carolina Supreme Court. At least 3 of the respondents, and perhaps more, are B.O.L.T. members. It could take several more months for the decision.

February 3, 2010 Hearing Time: 10:30 a.m.

Brinsfield, Laurie Ann Czerwieniec, Jeffery Jay Galbrath, Ronald Dewayne Gause, Gwendolyn Marie Harvey, Jessica Jane Hayes, Anthony Odell Hyman, Molly Infield, Mark Dale Infield, Bonnie Roberts Johnson, Emmett Earl Jones, Dawn Michell Kelly, Richard Allen Lester, Rodney Alan Louhoff, Rodney Alan Louhoff, Gary Edward Matson, Carla Williams Mercer, Richard O'Neil Mercer, Edward Dee Mitchum, Kathy Mitchum, Carol Justice North, Carol O'Day, William O'Day, III, Paul David Pinette, Steve Pinnell, Robert George Pinto, Debra A. Purcell, Rhonda Delette Robinson, Scott Allen Robinson, Rebecca Ann Rowan, Scott Rowan, Joseph Fred Ruddock, Jr, David Francis Speck, Anita Lynn Teachey, Robert Larry Thompson, Waddell H. Thompson, Michael James Timm, Debbie Timm, Rebel JM Tyler, Janice Waites, Susan Wall, and Edward Lucas Williams, Petitioners, v. City of Myrtle Beach and City of Myrtle Beach Municipal Court, Respondents.
Attorneys: Desa Ballard, of West Columbia, and James Thomas McGrath, of Richmond, VA, for Petitioners. Michael W. Battle, of Battle, Vaught & Howe, of Conway, for Respondents.

We are expecting a victory. If we don't get a victory this is going to be an extremely bad precedent for the rest of the country, with municipalities making all kinds of laws without preemption. One of the ABATE of SC members, Don Ard (I have met Don and believe he is in a leadership position - the ABATE there still does a good job compared to other ABATE orgainzations), wrote up his remarks at http://boltusa.org/node/99

As far as what is happening lately, I think we're all just waiting on the decision and refusing to spend money there. In the meantime, MB, the MBPD, and some of the uppercrust hotels have been exercising an unofficial policy of profiling, defaming, and harassing motorcyclists at various opportunities. Two incidents of profiling have been published at our website, but I expect there are many more that we don't hear about. We've been bringing all our business to North Myrtle Beach which welcomes bikers.

Hey - what's the latest scoop with Myrtle Beach ? I might want to try to get a helmet ticket there . . . Any success with the Court challenges ?
