Several policy changes and options have been implemented for people who park their scooters/motorcycles, electrical cars and other vehicles on university property.
Designated scooter and motorcycle parking spaces are now located on campus.
“We had been investigating the development of parking spaces specifically designated for motorcycles for several years now,” said Michelle Cone, director of Parking Operations. “But until lately, there was not enough interest to justify the change.”
Scooters/motorcycles cost the same as vehicles in metered lots ($1 per hour).
For faculty, staff or students who choose to drive a motorcycle/motor scooter to campus and purchase a permit, the cost is half the semester permit price, or $264 per year.
Those who drive a motorcycle/motor scooter as a secondary vehicle can apply for a permit at no additional charge.
While those who currently have a car/truck permit will not incur an extra charge, they will need to attach special parking stickers to their scooters/motorcycles.
The UMKC Parking Operations Web site states the new policy:
