Some police officers are stopping and writing modified bikes that have mounted their license plates on their side, rather than horizontally. They are using CVC 5201, which states “the plates shall be mounted in a position so as to be clearly visible.” This is arguable as to what this really means, so if you were to be cited for this , don’t just roll over and pay for it…Even a “fix-it” ticket can cost you some bucks these days. Check the citation for the CVC number that you are accused of....Anything other than CVC 5201, constitutes a mistake on their part. Any license plate must be illuminated by a white light
