As a new non-profit organization, the Kentucky Motorcycle Association District 14 chapter is planning some activities and fundraisers during the months of March and April so locals can get to know the group before they join.

“KMA encompasses all members,” said Chapter Director Allan Olson. Whether you ride independently or ride with colors, KMA is open to all.

Although the chapter consists of only 13 members today, they hope to grow in numbers by word of mouth and by welcoming all riders to public group rides. “As we grow we will become a support group and family for local riders- new and old,” Olson said.

Ultimately, “we are our there to ride and have fun and help the community,” stated Larissa Davis, chapter vice director.

The chapter will host a pork chop cookout on Saturday, March 20 at 10 a.m. at Movie Gallery and a District 14 ride, around The Loop, on Sunday, April 11. Ride starts at 1 p.m. at Movie Gallery in Morganfield. The Rain date will be April 18. All rides are open to the public.

With the funds they raise through sales, raffles and rides, the chapter plans to champion motorcycle rights and local charities, including St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and Santa Clothes for Kids, and help provide a better quality of life for individuals in nursing homes, veterans and fire and rescue volunteers.

Members of KMA receive updates about legislative issues affecting all motorcycle enthusiasts and gain entry to MRO events in and around the state. All members are enrolled in a $2,000 Accidental Death Policy just by being a current member. Currently, members are eligible for a discount rate through AFLAC Insurance, should they sign up.

Membership in the District 14 chapter of KMA costs $20 for a single membership and $30 per couple. District 14 welcomes individuals from Union, Henderson, Webster and Crittenden counties.
