[Reps] Oklahoma bills

OFF THE WIRE
What some of these so called motorcycle rights organizations have done is get in bed with the legislature and promote what I call Sound Good or Feel Good Legislation.
By that I mean they introduce bills that raise money for the state and then get a kickback in the form of government grants.
They try and convince their membership that what they are doing is a good thing and come out with a heavy campaign in their news letters and on the internet promoting what they are doing. This is always a one sided approach to the situation.
The only way that people can find out opposing views is from other sources such as motorcycle magazines and internet sites. This is where we must be very vocal and get what we believe out to these same people. Everyone needs to hear both sides of the issue so that the saying Let Those Who Ride Decide really works and riders are not following a false leadership.
Proof that this system works is Lou Kimzey and Easyriders magazine. In the early 70s the government was trying to brain wash the public about motor vehicle safety through the media they control. Motorcycle people were able to read opposing views in Easyriders and when others saw that was working other publications began getting involved. These publications were successful in getting both sides of the story out and then the statement Let Those Who Ride Decide.
I can not express how important I feel that this is today and hopefully everyone will reach out to the publications and media sources and help inform people about what is going on and especially opposing views to issues. I do not care if I am ever paid for what I send to publications for my views on motorcycle issues as it gets out what I have to say to others. Imagine what it would cost to pay to do that, some thing that these organizations are doing. The news letters that are being sent out by these organizations are one of their biggest expenses. They are the ones saying that and some have even done away with paper newsletters and gone to internet for that reason. They are only reaching the people that belong to their organization and Easyriders and other publications reach a much wider segment which does include some members of these organizations.
The good thing about opposing views is that it also makes some of the people in these organizations question what their organization is doing and telling them.
Let us not forget the other sources we have such as call in shows, they are doing a hell of a job as well.
