Mt. Carmel man arrested for break-in at motorcycle clubhouse

Off the Wire News - MCs in the News A 19-year-old Mt. Carmel man was arrested Monday night for allegedly breaking into a motorcycle group's clubhouse and stealing their booze.

Authorities say Cody M. Eckiss was arrested for burglary, felony criminal damage to property and felony possession of stolen property. He was being held on $2,500 cash bond Tuesday.

According to Mt. Carmel Police, authorities around 11 p.m. Monday recieved a complaint of a burglary at the Hi-Way Disciples Motorcycle Clubhouse, located at 601 Oak Street in Mt. Carmel.

Mt. Carmel Sgt. Mike McWilliams, Officer Erin Roe and Officer Steve Perry responded, and discovered a suspect or suspects had damaged the front door of the building and gained entry.

"Taken from the clubhouse was several bottles of assorted alcohol," Police Chief Jeff Besing reported Tuesday.

Detective Sgt. Ryan Turner was notified to investigate. Subsequently, Eckiss was arrested "...for his involvement in this burglary and also recovered several bottles of alcohol found in his possession," Besing said.

Authorities say the investigation is ongoing.
